Stephen King's Article
1. Do you agree or disagree with King's point of view? Why? A. I do agree with Steven King in that there is no purely sane person that exists. Everyone does have a little craziness inside of them, some are better at hiding it than others. Also everyone does hunger a little gore and horror in some point in their life.
2. Create a quick list of horror movies that you are familiar with. Why do you think these films are appealing to viewers?
A. Saw, Halloween, The exorcist, Psycho. They keep viewers at suspense and stimulate certain senses that very few will feel in real life situations.
3. Stephen King ends his article by stating, "As long as you keep the gators fed". What does he mean by this statement? Does his argument have any credibility?
A. I believe the alligators represent the evil and ugly side of us that we may have and feeding the alligators represents our actions to feed our hunger for horror and gore by watching horror movies or reading gruesome stories. As long as we keep this hunger fed then hopefully that side of us wont show in reality. I believe his argument has some credibility. I believe that there are people that can relate to his views.
Japanese Horror Movie Article
1. Do you agree or disagree that this film should have been banned? Why?
A. I don't think the movie should be banned. I believe in freedom of speech and expression. The BBFC should focus more on regulating who should be allowed to see the movie by stating the level of gore the film may express as well as the suggested age for viewers. Although I don't have a liking to the content of this movie, there are people, sick in the head of course, that will find it entertaining. So I say let them be as long as they don't bother me.
2. In the future, many analysts predict that horror movies will continue to become gorier and more sadistic. Do you believe this is true?
A. Of course its true. With the ongoing innovations of better special effects and the desire of producers to outdo their predecessors, the future of horrors movies have no limit. Also I notice that our society is becoming more comfortable and willing to accept a higher level of sex and violence than ever before.
3. What do you think Stephen King's point of view would be on horror movies being banned? How do you know?
Although I don't know Stephen King personally. It is obvious that he is a promoter of horror movies. However, his books and movies are tastefully horrific. I don't think he would support sexually inappropriate and sadistic movies with no true storyline.
